Human life expectancy has increased by double speed

A hundred years ago, the average human life expectancy was only 32 years. Now it has increased to 73 years. It can be less or more than ten years depending on the country and race. The point is, the average human life expectancy has more than doubled in the last 100 years.

The question is, how is this possible? One of the main reasons for this is that the infant mortality rate (IMR) in the world has decreased a lot. In 1900, 165 out of every 1,000 children died before reaching one year of age. In 2000, this number came down to only 7 people. Increasing public awareness about maternal and child health, fewer births, expansion of immunization programs, access to clean water, etc. have reduced infant mortality rates.

Undoubtedly, it has played a huge positive role in increasing the average life expectancy of people. But this is not the only reason behind the increase in the average life expectancy of people. One of the main reasons for this is that the standard of living of people has improved a lot in the last 100 years. Health awareness has increased among people.

After all, there has been a revolutionary change in the medical system. Infectious diseases, which are used to kill people easily, can be cured by applying antibiotics or vaccines. The death rate of people from diseases such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, polio, smallpox etc. can be cured now. For many other diseases, the death rate has been greatly reduced by providing medical care. For example, thousands of people used to die of cholera in our country, but now it does not happen anymore.

The same applies to malaria and typhoid. Apart from this, exceptional progress has been made in medical science in curing various harmful diseases including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. New research is ongoing in cancer treatment. The average life expectancy of people has increased more than twice in the last 100 years due to various reasons such as improved living systems, modern medical treatment, nutritious food, etc. It will surely increase in the future with the help of Science.
